Medical/clinical massage
Clinical massage, also known as medical massage or therapeutic massage, is a type of massage therapy that is the application of a specific treatment targeted to the problem(s) a client presents. The massage is administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by the massage therapist.
Medical massage is no single technique, but rather a culmination of styles and techniques the practitioner knows and applying them to specific conditions to bring about specific outcomes.
How does medical massage therapy help?
Manual manipulation of soft body tissues is used (muscle, connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. Manual therapy techniques may consist of connective tissue, massage, joint mobilization and manipulation, manual traction, passive range of motion, soft tissue mobilization, and manipulation.
Patients that have regular massages have noticed pain relief, improved range of motion, stress relief, improved sleep and so much more. It is important to let us know if you have any medical conditions and if your doctor has required anything specific.
What is Cupping?
Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction. This suction stimulates the flow of blood and Qi (energy) in the body and is used to treat a variety of conditions, such as pain, inflammation, blood stasis, and deep scar tissues in the muscles and connective tissue. The benefits are said to be increased blood flow, relaxation of muscles, and release of toxins.
Is cupping for you? During your consultation, your licensed massage therapist will work to identify your pain, when it started, and a projected treatment plan.
